Meet Emma. This beautiful, smiling love was born at 30 weeks gestation with an omphalocele. An omphalocele occurs when the organs are formed outside of the abdomen. She was born November 17, 2014 and has spent her entire life in the NICU and PICU! To protect her delicate organs, she had a skin graft placed over them. She also had surgery for a tracheostomy because her lungs needed some extra support. Emma is at very high risk for respiratory infections.
Emma’s journey continues throughout this winter as she likely will not be able to go home due to a series of surgeries over the years to place all of her organs inside her body. Emma’s family has been on a long journey and she will need support for quite some time. Her beautiful smile is what gets her family through the difficult times. Eden’s Garden was happy to help this family with a financial gift during their journey.
