Tuesday February 18, 2014 a wonderful family welcomed a beautiful baby boy Cooper John into this world at 29 weeks 1 day due to placental abruption weighing 3lbs 5oz. Cooper was born at Fairview Southdale hospital and quickly transferred to The University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital where he spent his first 3 weeks of life. Throughout Cooper's stay he required ventilator support , suffered from a grade 1 and grade 2 brain bleed, and septicemia due to a severe blood infection requiring a 28 day antibiotic course.
Cooper is this family's fourth child. With former 26 week twins at home (Now four and a half) and a two and a half year old at home, balancing time at home and in the NICU with Cooper was a daily struggle throughout Cooper's stay. It became a daily challenge to ensure that all kids were taken care of along with all the house work needed to be completed by the time Cooper was ready to head home. Eden's Garden assisted this family in a great time of need as they prepared for their baby boy to come home.
Coopers mom says "We could not be more thankful and appreciative for what this incredible organization has done for us."
